Sample Letter:
Dear Senator ,
Please reject the nomination of Thomas E. Wheeler for Chairman of the FCC.
"Wi-Fi - A Thalidomide in the Making. Who Cares?" by Barrie Trower makes it clear that exposure to radiation from wireless technology will cause DNA damage, including damage to the mitochondrial DNA that is irreparable and will transmit to all future progeny of affected females. Mr. Trower has since stated that everything in this paper applies also to transmitting utility meters, the so-called "smart" meters, also known as AMR, AMI, etc. meters.
Please watch the movie "Take Back Your Power" (www.takebackyourpower.net) for a very powerful summary of the devastating effect that the rollout of "smart" meters is having on many people.
Despite industry claims to the contrary, there is a large body of evidence showing that wireless technology is harming the public health, see supplementary information below.
Thomas E. Wheeler, former president of the CTIA opposed meaningful radiofrequency (RF) safety limits in the 1996 Telecommunications Act. He should not be heading the FCC at a time when the FCC is considering whether it needs to update its RF safety limits. His conflicts of interest are too great. Mr. Wheeler was key in preventing enactment of biologically-based RF safety limits in the past. He is the WRONG choice to head the FCC now, when it is again reassessing the need for biologically-based RF safety limits.
The FCC is finally re-visiting their RF limits, so now is NOT the time to place the very industry representative who killed meaningful RF safety limits years ago in charge of the FCC.
Please reject the nomination of Mr. Wheeler for FCC Chairman. Mr. Wheeler will not serve the public interest of the American people if confirmed.
Sincerely,
*******
Supplementary Information:
Please read the letter that the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) addressed to the FCC (http://aaemonline.org/images/FCCLtr.pdf). It contains a clear concise statement related to the urgent need for biologically-based RF safety limits.
Here is an excerpt:
"Numerous peer reviewed, published studies correlate radiofrequency exposure with a wide range of health conditions and diseases. These include neurological and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's Disease, ALS, paresthesias, dizziness, headaches and sleep disruption as well as cardiac, gastrointestinal and immune disease, cancer, developmental and reproductive disorders, and electromagnetic sensitivity. The World Health Organization has classified RF emissions as a group 2 B carcinogen." (emphasis added)
The AAEM makes the point that radiation from wireless technologies also poses a recognized access barrier under the Americans with Disabilities Act due to the adverse biological effects people experience in wireless-enabled buidlings. The FCC ought to be setting RF safety limits that will protect the public health and prevent these non-thermal biological effects.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/technology/2013/05/can-wifi-signals-stunt-plant-growth/ A short article "Can WiFi Signals Stunt Plant Growth?" from ABC News reported on an experiment conducted by several students. The particularly visually stunning results on seedlings showed that WiFi can have detrimental biological effects. Please take a look.

This review discusses, in addition to human health effects, the detrimental effects wireless infrastructure has on trees, frogs, birds, pollinators, etc.

www.bioinitiative.org The BioInitiative Report is a comprehensive review of the literature and recommends lowering the existing RF limits substantially to avoid documented biologically-based health effects that exist at levels far below the current FCC RF limits.
